The Next Step

Well, we've been waiting with bated breath to find out who won the job lottery here, and I specifically have been wondering where in the world I will be next year. Typical government time frame: we were supposed to know the second week of March, and I found out this weekend. I have officially lost the lottery. It is interesting that they only contact you if you received a job transfer. If you did not, you simply have to infer this bit of information from the lack of communication. I have not received an email or letter, so I'm guessing I'm out. This means that if I choose to stay with my current employer, I will be here in Korea again next year. This is a strong possibility given that I have not yet visited Indonesia, the Philippines, or Australia...and I have a better ranking in the job lottery for next year if I stay. I am keeping my eyes open though for possibly tempting jobs closer to home. like Puerto Rico. :)

So I'm not entirely sure what the next step will be in the trajectory of my life and career, but all possibilities are exciting. I never seem to have any clue where I'm headed till I get there anyway. Who'd have thought I'd be here?! In the meantime, I have lots of little steps to take, like the softball games that start this weekend, and once again mean long bus trips and sleepless nights on gym floors with teenagers....a quick trip home for a good friend's wedding.....an impending visit from my mother.....and possibly a move to a new apartment. I'll keep you posted.
